Graduation is just around the corner, and it is time to start planning your drop-in parties & family gatherings! I am a big believer in simple get-togethers and shindigs.. The type of parties that encourage family time rather than fuss!
Today I am sharing the basics of hosting a classic black and white graduation party with simple, thoughtful elements to make your guest of honor feel extra special.
1. Good food is a must. Whether you are hosting a family brunch or a drop-in gathering, tasty food is a party requirement. Honor your graduate by making their favorite family dishes! Don’t forget a sweet treat! Mini cupcakes in a variety of flavors are always fun.
2. Paper goods that add an element of style are always welcome! It’s always nice to save time with compostable and biodegradable paper goods than washing dishes well into the evening! I chose a black and white theme for my gathering with pops of jadeite for a touch of color. I added black and white dot wrapping paper from Shindig Paperie as a table runner. I completed the look with wooden utensils, simple white plates and modern napkins all purchased from Shindig.
3. Fresh flowers, cards and family photos make the perfect centerpiece! Grab a large bouquet of tulips (pro tip: add two pennies to the vase & keep your tulips standing straight!) from the grocer or farmers’ market and place them in a simple vase. Add cards from family in your color theme & photos of the graduate throughout his or her life! This is a great conversation starter among guests and adds warmth to the party.
With just a few thoughtful gestures, a spread of delicious food & simple party goods, you are sure to host an extra special gathering just in time for Graduation Day!
